50 years of jumping in La Baule
Even if its very first horseshow was held in 1931, it was not until 1960 that La Baule joined the auspices of the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) by being granted “official show” status. In 2002, La Baule joined the FEI Nations Cup Series and this year La Baule will become a part.

The Program
There will be a total of 75 couples (Riders and Horses) starting in 10 classes in La Baule’s CSIO. In addition to the three key events - the MEYDAN FEI Nations Cup (Friday, May 15th), The Derby Meeting of the Pays de La Loire (Saturday, May 16th), the Grand Prix Longines of La Baule (Sunday, May 17th) - four other classes with 20,000€ of prize money each and which count towards world ranking status (classes n°3,n°5, n°7 and n°10) will also take place.
During the weekend, there will also be two international demonstrations for Para-Equestrian Jumping.

The French team will defend its 2009 title
La Baule is a strategic and important competition for the French Team during their 2010 season. Laurent Elias, the National Selection Coach, has chosen a very solid team composed of France’s best couples, in spite of the fact, that the Global Champions Tour (Hamburg) is being held at the same time.
A total of 18 French riders have been selected to competein the International Jumping of France-La Baule.
The 5 couples riding for France in the MEYDAN FEI Nations Cup will be: Kevin Staut / Kraque Boom (European Champion Title holder); Michel Robert / Kellemoi de Pépita; Olivier Guillon / Lord des Hayettes ; Thimotée Anciaume / Lamm de Fétan (reservist : Simon Delestre / Mélodie Ardente).
Individual entries to be announced soon.

Three exceptional trophies

The 2010 edition of La Baule will present 3 noteworthy trophies:Cheval Shop will reward the “Best Male Rider” of the Horseshow; Forestier will reward the “Best Female Rider” and in honor of La Baule’s 50th birthday, the Société Hippique Française SHF will award the “Best French Horse” competing in The Derby Meeting of the Pays de La Loire (formally known as the French Horse Derby)!

Horse show arena conditions
The City of La Baule’s immediate reaction following the important floods caused by the severe storms which recently hit France’s west coast, saved François Andre’s grass terrain from any damage. The City of La Baule’s technical specialist efficiently removed all salt water residues with fresh water not allowing the salt to attack the earth. Today, the grounds are in excellent condition. A series of tests will be conducted on April 30th to confirm the ground’s operational quality.

The International Jumping of France-La Baule is the only event of its stature to offer entry free of charge
The International Jumping of France-La Baule is among the top 8 internationally ranked horseshows and the only one to offer free entry to its public. La Baule’s mayor, Yves Métaireau, has decided to continue the tradition of free entry for all four days of top level competition as a way of thanking the loyal fans who fill La Baule’s jumping stadium every year..

Once again, the Meydan FEI Nations Cup (former Super League), will begin its season in La Baule with the ten best nations competing for the 2010 Meydan FEI Nations Cup title.
This first stage of the Meydan FEI Nations Cups is the first important rendez-vous of the Nations Cup Series, as well as the first key event of the International Jumping of France-La Baule. It is also, just four months away from the World Equestrian Games in Lexington.

The Nation Cups circuit can now be referred to as the «Club of 10»: France (2009 winner), Germany , Ireland, the Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden, Spain, the United States and Great Britain (the Court of Arbitration for Sport has just rendered its decision to allow the team of Great Britain compete in the Top League of the Nations Cup).
Once again, the ten top nations will have to prove themselves at the highest level.
Every coach struggles to find a winning strategy while providing balance to his/her team (riders and horses) in the pursuit of victory and the reward of seeing their flag flying to the music of their national anthem.
The Meydan FEI Nations Cup is a unique show jumping competition that transforms individual goals into a collective team effort.
